Hi Alex
I saved an image to a HD with not enough free space and got the error message.
In Windows 8 this message is hidden, so I didn't realized it and tried to recover the bad image to another stick.
I got no error message and the stick even seems to work since only a little bit is missing...

Did you start USB Image Tool from the new Metro surface or from desktop? How exactly the message is hidden?

Doubleclick on the exe.
I had this issue also with other programs. Windows 8 seems to handle this in a quite stupid way:
- The message windows is created but instead of putting it all on top or at least over the program window, it gets level 0 so it won't apear until you hover over the taskbar entry or press it.
- Seems to be a Windows 8 Bug which will be changed someday
(Windows 8 Pro, 64 bit, all Online-Updates)
