Tried to backup a usb drive to another but have lost the data on the source. Can I get it back?

Your question is a little bit unspecific. If you still have a copy as image or physical USB drive, of course you can get your data back. Either restore the image or just copy the files from the other drive. If your situation is different, you have to provide more information.
