Free Space without Partition

Post by NormalBlase »

Hey,

I've used the USB Image Tool and it worked very well!

But I've got a question:

My Usb Stick is 8gb. I have got two partions: 1gb fat32 and 1gb ext2 for linux and the MBR is written too. When I do a backup of my Stick, the are 3 files in the backup.img

-0.fat (fat32)
-1.img (linux)
-2 --- (free space about 5,5gb)

How can I delete the free Space so that the .img file gets smaller and I can restore it for example on a 2gb Stick.?
I hope you understood my question.

I'm from Germany

If you just want to make the image fit the 2Gb device and are sure, that only the first 2 Gb are used, you can use the truncate option. If you want to reduce the image size itself, you need another tool, a file splitter. If you are using Total Commander or SpeedCommander, these tools already have that as an implemented function.
