Hi there. I'm trying to restore a laptop recovery image to a bootable USB drive but think it may be overwriting the entire drive including the bootable partition. Am I doing something wrong? Is it possible to use this tool with a bootable drive. Any urgent help would be HUGELY appreciated.

I can't say exactly, what you are doing. If your image is just a DVD/CD image, writing it to an USB drive won't make it bootable. You would also overwrite the bootsector of that hard drive.
