c:\usbitcmd r 2204 atv-patchstick.img -c
yields error msg:
could not access the USB Device. Code: 5 - Access Denied
USB stick works just fine under WIN XP or Linux.
Any idea of what is going on here?

Usually there is an open explorer window, that is locking the device. In device mode there must be no concurrent access to the usb device.
Also you should use /d for restoring a atv patchstick device. -c has no effect and is not documented.
